ππ’ππ€π₯ππ«π¬, ππ‘π«π’π₯π₯ππ«π¬, ππ§π ππ’π¬π¬π’π₯ππ¬! Mother Nature flexed her muscles this weekend, as she is wont to do this time of year. That did stop the show from going on as best it could. Friday was more of a success than Saturday, but we still got some racing both nights.
π The USMTS managed to get one night of the 15th Annual Texas Spring Nationals from Rocket Raceway Park in the books. The High Side Tickler Kyle Strickler took home the $5k payday after taking the lead early from the 4th starting position. The ever-consistent Rocket Rodney Sanders had a steady runner-up finish. The defending champ, Jim Chisholm, fought to the podium from the B-Main finishing 3rd. Tyler Davis had a successful debut this season with a solid 4th place. RotY contender Trevor Hughes rounded out the Top 5 battling for a strong finish after a midrace mishap.
After three races, here's how the Top 5 in the Championship sits:
1. Rodney Sanders

βοΈ Josh's Jottings:The one thing that caught my attention this weekend was the rising temperatures on the USMTS tour. Last weekend saw a pair of incidents between Jim Chisholm and Kyle Strickler and this weekend saw them both take the opportunity to share some thoughts on said incidents with RacinDirt.com. It seemed to me that both title contenders are ready and willing to go toe-to-toe this season and that there may be some rubbing, touching, and squeezing along the way.
I'm here for it. There is nothing like a good rivalry and points battle to make a season more memorable. Provided, of course, we steer closer to respectful, hard racing more often than not. Fans of both drivers will have strong opinions; I am sure. Personally, I like them both, love having both of them on tour, and can't wait to buy merch and see them battle it out in person all summer.
Let me know what you think about this bubbling rivalry and/or memorable rivalries that drew you more into the sport we love in the comments π
