It has been a HUGE week for dirt racing and we’ve barely scratched the surface!
The guys over at XR ONUM Dirt Modifieds have announced new details about the XR Big Deal taking place at Ogilvie Raceway. The Mods will race for $125,000 to win and it’ll be cut down to a two-day show, which will probably be welcomed by racers and fans alike. With the venue and date switch, will all of the biggest names still be in attendance? For that chunk of change, I’m sure they will be, but we’ll be covering the event from the ground no matter what! Also, ANOTHER $100,000 to win Mod race was announced at the Salina Highbanks for March. Short notice, but a lot of money will entice the nation’s best to try their hand.
Oh, and how about that Wild West Shootout?! Kyle Strickler Motorsports picked up the points title, which came down to the wire against a hard-charging Dustin Sorensen Racing. It was definitely up in the air last week, but it sounds like Strickler is inching towards that USMTS - United States Modified Touring Series title run. If he does, it’s going to be fireworks all season.
Finally, let’s give it up for Mr. Rob Moseley, who joins Kris Jackson in the four-or-more club by claiming 4 of the X Mod features! New Mexico has some seriously underrated race car drivers like Mr. Rob, Josh Cain, Jesse Haynie, Jake Gallardo, Christy Barnett, Hunter Sandy, and the list just goes on and on. The fantastic FloRacing coverage gives these unsung heroes the spotlight they deserve.
